Sherzod Abdiev was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in 1999 and began studying the violin at age 6. He attended the Academic Music High School under the Moscow State Conservatory, studying with L. Slavyanova, then the YST Conservatory of Music under Professor Qian Zhou, and currently studies with Professor Sergey Ostrovsky at HEM Geneva-Neuchâtel.
He performed a recital with the State Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan in Tashkent at age 19 and won first prize in the 'Merzlyakovka priglashaet' competition in Moscow (2018), first prize in the 'III Marine Iashvili International Competition' in Tbilisi, Georgia (2025), and third prize at the '13th Marie Cantagril International Violin Competition' in Toulouse, France (2025). In addition, he was a semifinalist in the Odesa and Markneukirchen International Violin Competitions, where he received a special prize from iPalpiti Artists International provided by E. Schmieder (2025).
He has participated in masterclasses with Ilya Kaler, Dora Schwarzberg, Sergey Ostrovsky, Shlomo Mintz, Dmitriy Berlinskiy, Krzysztof Wegrzyn, Koichiro Harada, Tatiana Samuil, Sarah Nemtanu, Guillaume Chileans, and others. He took part in the Keshet Eilon Summer Mastercourse in 2022 and 2025.
He plays a Petrus Gaggini violin generously loaned by the LaLive Foundation (Geneva).
